Care and Handling

As a designer - I do things that may seem mindless and mechanical. I don’t stop to think that they may be helpful to a person exploring floral design for the first time. It is all about education, elevation, and spreading the word! With that being the focus, it was essential to curate a guide that will be useful when you receive your flowers.

 Preparation:

  • Once you purchase your bouquet – it is important to condition the flowers before designing with them in a vase.

  • Unwrap the plastic packaging and the decorative sleeve off your bouquet. Cut off all rubber bands.

  • Begin by removing any excess foliage that will lay below the waterline. This will prevent any unnecessary bacteria to form and create a longer vase life for the flowers. If you notice any damage to the petals - go ahead and carefully detach those, as well.

  • This process will provide a clean slate for designing. It also removes any foliage or petals that may compromise the beauty of your bouquet.

  • Once you have everything prepared - you are ready to start designing!

Cutting:

  • Trim each of the stems at least 1-2” or to the desired height of your preferred vase. This will allow the flowers to rehydrate and perform to their full potential.

  • Be sure to cut on an angle to allow greater surface area for hydration.

Floral Preservative:

  • Find this packet within your bouquet and add to the water to keep fresh and increase vase life.

Re-hydrate:

  • Daily, if needed.

Protect:

  • Keep your floral arrangement out of direct sunlight, and far from heat/cold.
